Should Your Kids Drink Green Tea?
Having kids can be challenging, they grow up so fast and as they are growing their tastes and preferences change and this is especially true with what they want to eat and drink.
As we all know convincing kids to eat and drink well and maintain a healthy diet is a real challenge, they are naturally drawn to bright colored drinks that are high in sugar. This can be a real issue for parents so how do you combat this so that your kids can enjoy a range of beverages and not just be limited to water.
Well let’s think about what we do. We as adults consume a variety of beverages from water to fruit juices and of course coffee. Now I am not suggesting you give your kids coffee but what about its friend tea. Adults consume tea on a regular basis and certain teas come with certain health benefits. So, it stands to reason that tea is a great alternative to those sugary drinks that your kids crave.
In particular green tea. Green tea is one of the most popular drinks consumed by adults worldwide every year. So why wouldn’t your kid want to consume green tea. Well taste for
one kids as we know are very fussy when it comes to what they will eat and drink and that is why there is a whole range of green tea for kids out there in the marketplace.
These particular green teas have been developed with kids in mind to give them all the benefits of green tea but in a more child appealing way.
But with so many green teas for kid’s options out there how can you choose the right one for your kid. Well today in this article this is what we will discuss.
If you search for green tea for kids, you will realize just how many options there are out there to choose from. This is because it is a very lucrative market so most of the large tea manufacturers will have developed a green tea for kids range as part of their portfolio.
Once you have the results of your green tea for kids search you will want to filter the results down now the best way, I find of doing this is to follow the advice of parents that have gone before you to do this you will want to look at the consumer reviews left by other parents on each company’s green tea for kids offering. This may sound time consuming but usually the mass consensus isn’t wrong and if the vast majority of parents are scoring a tea highly it is more than likely very good.
While following the advice of other parents is always a good idea you will still want to follow your own intuition too. Just like when you choose your own brand of tea or coffee you do so for a reason so if your preferred brand of tea or coffee also has a green tea for kids range then a good place to start would be there.
And when I talk about preference your kid’s preference will also come into play at the end of the day, they will have to actually enjoy the taste of the tea, or they won’t drink it and you will be back to where you started.
If they don’t like the first option, then simply try another these teas are designed with kids in mind and are a lot less bitter tasting than traditional green teas so while one brand of green tea might not be too there liking then perhaps the next one will.
If you are unlucky enough that your kid is very particular about their taste, and you have tried quite a few green teas and they still haven’t taken to it don’t give up.
As you know there are a whole host of health benefits that come with drinking green tea, and we all want our kids to be as healthy and happy as possible it may take time to find the right green tea for them, but the pros outweigh the cons. You can potentially speed up this process by getting other parents involved because it is easier to convince a kid to like something if all of their friends are doing the same thing.
I have found that working as a group of parents makes the process of getting your kids on to green tea a lot faster and easier.
